How to get started on TikTok as a company based in Israel

Picture this: Your company is based in Israel. You really want to get on TikTok. You know it’s important. You know it’s a powerful platform. But you have ZERO CLUE on how to start…

Sound relatable?

Trust us, you are not alone in this feeling.

Even though TikTok has been around for a few years, it’s still a fairly new platform for the majority of tech companies. First things first, take a deep breath and know that your big TikTok sis is here to help (hi, it’s me, Pink Chili ♥️ )!

Here is a step by step guide on how to start posting on TikTok today:

  1. Research your audience

The first thing you’re going to want to do is research. No need to write a 20 page dissertation. But it’s important to get your finger on the pulse and get a better understanding of the target audience you’re going after and what’s trending in your industry.

Here are some things we recommend researching:

  • Trending videos within your keywords (TikTok SEO is a real thing!) - what’s happening in these viral videos? Any consistencies you notice?

  • “Flop videos” within your space - what didn’t work?

  • The top creators in your space

  • Hot topics (don't forget to dive into the comment sections too)

  • Trending hashtags

  • Your competitors - what are they doing? how often are they posting? what are their engagements looking like?

2. Understand how the FYP works in Israel

The FYP or “for you page” on TikTok is the pure gold of the platform. You ALWAYS want to end up there. It's how new users discover your content. The FYP in every country looks different, and if you’re targeting an Israeli audience, you must first understand what’s trending on the Israeli FYP. What's the humor? What hashtags are being used? What days/times are people posting? If you’re a company based in Israel but looking to target other geos, you cannot post content from an Israeli phone, or even from Israel from that matter. Take that into consideration when building your strategy.

3. Gather your insights & build a scrappy strategy

Once you’re finished researching your space, organize your thoughts and gather your insights. Ask yourself: What’s working on TikTok (within my space)? What isn’t? What topics are hot? Which ones are dead? Is there a hole in the market? Etc…

Asking these strategic questions to yourself while looking at your data will help you arrive at some big conclusions.

Now that you have your conclusions defined, build a scrappy strategy. Emphasis on the word “scrappy”. Sparkly 100 slide strategy decks may look pretty, but most times they're a waste of time.

The best way to go about things is to jump into content creation quickly. Starting testing iterative concepts (read more about what this means in our TikTok philosophy blog). Start playing with different formats, hooks, lighting, editing, humor styles. Experiment with content styles such as skits, POV, "story-times", and more.  TikTok will tell you pretty quickly what content is good, and what isn’t. So jump right in!
